my grad school application shit is almost all done! i'm polishing and fine-tuning my statement of purpose essays for mills. then i'll just magically transform it for sarah lawrence. i decided on a total overhaul of my writing samples this morning. rather than a huge smattering of short pieces, i cut most of them and am throwing in a longer work, from my non-fiction novel-in-progress. i'm attempting to express writing range and all, you know. i'm a little obsessive and neurotic about the music i need to listen to while i write and edit. for news releases it's a few particular weezer songs or public enemy. but for tonight's purposes i'm on "work it" by missy elliott, puff daddy's "bad boy for life," eminem's "lose yourself," run dmc's "tricky" and the sneaker pimps' ever-fabulous "spin spin sugar." weird, i know. but it's working.
