filibuster this

there's a filibuster going on at this very moment in the senate. that's right folks, the democrats have suddenly remembered their spines. they're blocking confirmation of miguel estrada to the federal circuit court for dc. i'm so excited i can hardly contain myself. woooo hooo! ok, and i have to admit that a large part of why i want to be in the senate someday is so i can filibuster like this country has never seen. because in a filibuster you just basically keep talking until the other side gives in. which can go on for hours, days. but my idea is that if you make your filibuster material outrageous enough that it won't last very long at all. so here's a portion of my tentative list of filibuster material for myself and others: - the vagina monologues

- shar rednour's "femme's guide to the universe," section on fisting with fingernails
- any bjork song (recited in bjork-like voice)
- weezer's "undone" (the sweater song)

- mary j blige's "no more drama"
- nas' "if i ruled the world"
- public enemy's "fight the power" see, when i'm in office politics will be entertaining. i'll be live on c-span AND mtv when i filibuster.
