corporate bastards
2005-06-22 @ 11:38 a.m.

an op-ed in today's sf chronicle spews about how it's opressive to drug companies to have regulations on prescription drug ads, that prescpription drug ads are no different from oh say ads for cheerios, that it's limiting their freedom of speech,

Ok, so can I just point out...

1. drug companies make $200 billion in sales yearly in the u.s. i'm kinda thinking they're hardly oppressed and constrained

2. the organization the author is the e.d. of has materials on their web site with titles like "health care is not a right" and self-describes as a "pro-capitalist educational organization"

3. prescription drugs can fuck up your health just a tiny bit more than cheerios, so um yeah maybe they should be marketed slightly differently

4. how much do you want to bet that the writer has a stock portfolio that looks like a cocktail party of drug companies?

5. with any luck, the chronicle will print the letter to the editor i just wrote for my boss. jokingly, i asked her if i should sign it "commie bastard" because apparently that's what we are now. better than a heartless capitalist fucknut.
